Layout
Tap Layout in the bottom bar. The panel opens over the bottom of the table and every change shows at once. The switch at its top picks what the panel changes: Grid for the whole table, or the selected column.
The selected column
Section titled “The selected column”Tap the column side of the switch. With nothing selected it lists the columns: pick one, and the table selects it and scrolls it into view. If a column (or a cell in it) is already selected, the switch goes straight to that column. To change another column, tap the column side again and pick from the list.
The switch shows the column’s name, or how many columns you selected. Tapping a column’s name in the table while the panel is open also switches to that column; tapping a cell keeps the side you are on, and moves the column side to that cell’s column. Clearing the selection goes back to Grid.
- Width: drag the slider. The number says how wide the column is next to the normal width: 1× is normal, 2× is twice as wide. Auto puts it back to the default.
- Align: the three line icons are left, center and right. Center helps when a long column name sits over short numbers: the values stay under their name. PDFs start from these alignments.
- Sort: ⇅ is unsorted, ↑ sorts ascending and ↓ descending, the same arrows the column’s name shows once sorted. Then by this adds it to a multi-column sort. The column stays selected and the panel stays on it, so you can flip the order or keep adjusting the column.
- Freeze through this column: keeps this column and those left of it in place while you scroll sideways.
- Type: the column type.
- Rename column and Hide.
Select several columns to change them together.

The whole grid
Section titled “The whole grid”The settings come in four groups. Each slider has ↺ to go back to normal.
- Zoom: makes the whole table bigger or smaller, from 0.5× to 2×, the way zoom works in a spreadsheet. Cells, column names, row numbers and text all scale together, and the width, height and text size below keep their values. Zoom out to see more of a wide table at once. The selected cell stays where it is on screen. Each file keeps its own zoom. With a keyboard, Ctrl (⌘ on iPhone and iPad) with +, − and 0 zooms in, zooms out and goes back to 1×.
- Width: the default width for every column, from 0.4× to 4× the normal width. ↺ puts it back, and also undoes the widths you set column by column.
- Height: the row height, from 0.5× to 3× one line. A row never gets shorter than one line of its text.
- Text size: from 10 to 20. Rows grow with the text, so a row keeps its number of lines.
- Wrap text: long text runs onto more lines instead of being cut off. How many lines depends on the row height. Numbers, dates and other typed columns stay on one line.
- Column lines: turn off the lines between columns. The lines between rows always stay, and so do the line under the column names and the edge of the frozen columns.
- Frozen columns: how many columns stay put on the left.
- Row numbers: shows or hides the # column, the numbers at the start of each row.
- Hidden columns: tap one to show it again, or Show all.
- Hide toolbars while scrolling: the top and bottom bars slide away as you scroll down and come back when you scroll up. See Reading the table. This one is for the whole app, not just this file.
- Full screen: the table and nothing else. See Full screen.
